Chef Joel Short Bio
CHEF JOEL SHORT
Joel Short is a Red Seal Chef (Northern Institute of Technology) who also holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Teaching Degree (University of Alberta).
Joel has extensive experience both as a culinary teacher and a chef. He has worked in almost every sector of the food industry from fine dining to large scale catering and has even worked with sushi master Joe Takamori at the well loved Japanese Restaurant Matsuya in Alberta.
Prior to purchasing the Georgetown Inn, Joel was working as a Corporate Chef in Alberta, developing new menus, training staff and facilitating the opening of a variety of new restaurants in Western Canada.
Joel is delighted to focus his energy on this new adventure in Prince Edward Island. He is committed to developing a menu that celebrates the food from this region.
He welcomes both Islanders and visitors to dine in the comfortable and relaxed setting of the Georgetown Inn Dining Room.
I cannot even start to point out to you simply how much i enjoy sushi, its awesome! It is trully a skill to prepare it the proper way, it took me years to master myself but now I do make maybe the perfect sushi in Boston.
The perfect sushi…that’s quite the statement…obviously, I’m going to have to come to Boston one day and sample some of your skills. … That would be fun… While I make great sushi, I’m no master…not by a long shot…but I do enjoy eating sushi made by almost anyone….supermarket sushi being the one exception…lol
