P.E.I. to host cruise industry conference

CHARLOTTETOWN — The P.E.I. capital will play host to many of the major players in the cruise ship industry when its hosts the Canada-New England Cruise Symposium next June.

Over 150 delegates representing industry suppliers and destination market organizations are expected to attend. The June 19-21 symposium will also feature tours of the four Atlantic Canada provinces for cruise line executives.

A Night Of Christmas Music

The Celtic Ladies and Kendall Docherty & Friends are teaming up for a night of Christmas music and fun to raise funds for a less fortunate family this Christmas. This wonderful night of your favorite tunes and Holiday classics will be Sunday, December 17th at the Kings Playhouse in Georgetown at 7:30pm. Adults are $15 and 12 and under are free. Proceeds will be going towards sponsoring a family through the Dept. of Social Services to make sure that they have as great a Christmas morning as we all know we will have and take for granted. Doors open at 7pm and there will be canteen servives available. You can purchase tickets in advance at Docherty’s Auto Service in Montague or at Royalty Hardwoods in Pooles Corner. You can also reserve tickets by phoning Kendall at 651-2924. All ticket sales in advance and at the door are cash only. We hope to see you all there and please, pass this info along!!

A ‘Come Home Year’ a good idea

I read with interest the comments of Harry Baglole in the Dec. 6 issue of The Guardian, about his idea of promoting our province in relationship to tourism by inviting everyone to come home for a visit in what could be a ‘Come Home Year’ in 2007.

His idea has merit and is really a resurrection of what was used by the capital city more than 100 years ago. I have in my history archives a booklet labelled ‘Souvenir Map and Guide, Home Comers Week, July 1905, Charlottetown, P.E.

$2.1 million airport expansion gets green light
