Taking Up the Gauntlet

From: The Mayor of Georgeotown

The Mayors of Georgetown and Souris have accepted Montague Mayer Pat McGowan’s “Fitness Challenge”, but it won’t end there. Both Georgetown Mayer Peter Llewellyn and Souris Mayer Joanne Reid are taking it one step further to raise awareness for improved literacy in their elementary schools!

Invoking the rarely used right of the challenged to choose the weapon of combat, both Llewellyn and Reid have made “improved literacy” in their town’s elementary schools the focus of the face-off!
The pair has teamed up to accept the tossed gauntlet from Montague’s Mayor and decree that the outcome will have a more long-lasting focus than their personal fitness! They want to ensure the efforts of both winners and losers make a significant difference in literacy for their schools and for Prince Edward Island.
Therefore, the order of battle is as follows:
The Mayors of all three communities, should they accept, commit to a attending a June 28 public meeting in a neutral PEI community to present their progress both in personal fitness and in their commitments to improved literacy in the local schools.
While in training, the mayors must also take a deep-dive into the state of literacy at their schools and what can be done to improve it. The results and recommendations for both literacy in schools and personal fitness will be presented in the aforementioned neutral community.
The winners of the Fitness Challenge will be decided in a secret vote by an attending panel judges that will be announced in the near future.
The use of any, and all resources, without limit, or restriction, shall be allowed to achieve success or progress in achieving personal fitness and addressing the literacy issue, which have an impact on every citizen.
